Getting Ready for the Wedding! Teeth Edition. Sharing Our At Home Teeth Whitening Routine

With the wedding coming up next year, I definitely wanted Colin and I to have white spanking teeth for our pictures so when Smile Brilliant reached out, I was SO interested in trying out their product and Colin joined!

I've whitened my teeth in the past a few times but I was excited to try something new. The first was right after I got my braces off around 2006 and I used Crest Whitestrips. I guess my teeth just didn't get stained much after because then I hadn't touched them until a few years ago when I tried Whitestrips again. I just wasn't in the mood to be doing it daily so I stopped. Now, I was ready to go all out because I have a reason to! The wedding!

This product was interesting to me because it was only $139 for the T3 Non Sensitive System Kit while professional dentist whitenings are $600 and more. The one I did is if you have light stains and then they have kits for average stains and heavy stains. (and I'm doing a giveaway below of this product!!)

The kit it includes 3 whitening syringes, 3 desensitizing syringes, and everything you need to create the molds that Smile Brilliant will use to create your custom teeth whitening trays. It also includes instructions for every part of the process.

So once you get your kit, this is what you have to do:

You have to take an impression of your top and bottom teeth those who've had braces before remember this. :) and then you mail it back into Smile Brilliant with their prepaid label inside the box already ready for you.

Once they ship you back the actual trays, you can start whitening! I was surprised that the trays weren't as stiff as retainers but it makes sense now because they don't need to be that stiff. Also it's awesome because it gets EVERY section of each tooth.

What you put on the tray is just a line of the whitening syringe that comes in your kit. You don't want to put the whole syringe, you won't need that much and then it'll seep through anyways to your gums. They recommend 1/3-1/4 of the syringe for each use. You will brush your teeth with only water before whitening.

Once you have the gel in there, you put them on your teeth and wear for 45 minutes up to 3 hours. At first I thought OH MY up to 3 hours! But then once I wore it, the time just flew by. I usually did it after work at home after dinner and then on the weekends is when I would do it for the 3 hours just sitting around watching TV or doing errands around the house.

You won't use all of the 3 syringes that come in the kit (and most people only need 7-12 whitening sessions) so what's good is I can save them until a month before the wedding and use it again. They'll stay good for 1 year at room temp or 2 years refrigerated.

I didn't experience this but if your gums are sensitive, you can coat them with Vaseline or coconut oil. For the best results whiten daily or every other day. You can also start at 45 minutes to gauge your sensitivity first. The only sensitivity I found was eating ice cream the day after or something like that but now after a week of being done, they're back to normal.

Afterwards you can brush your teeth and then you can use desensitizing gel that you wear for 20 minutes after the whitening gel which I did.

I was so impressed by how fast it whitened them and I only did about 7 sessions and so did Colin. I'm excited to do it again next year closer to the wedding and make sure we are as ready as can be! :)
