My First Hydrafacial Experience.... Is It Worth The Hype? + VIDEO

I've seen so many insta stories on Hydrafacials and I wanted to try it out for myself! It was also my friend Amber who actually sent a Youtube video to me recently and said she wanted to try this out and I jumped on the bandwagon ASAP too and went to Erickson Dermatology in Chicago!

First off... it's normally $200 for this facial. Seems pricey but to do it quarterly instead of your usual facial, it's not too bad. And let me tell you, the extractions part during normal facials hurt, but this did not at all! It was the easiest way to get all the black heads, whiteheads, and dirt out of your pores- and no there's no needles.

Here's what the Hydrafacial actually does..

It's a non invasive skin resurfacing and hydrating procedure done by an aesthetician. It's “vortex suction” tool works like microdermabrasion to exfoliate the skin and remove impurities, but without using abrasive chemicals to do so. It literally just uses suction like a vacuum to get rid of dead skin, clogged pores, and reveal more radiant new skin.

It treats skin concerns, like fine lines, acne, hyperpigmentation and sun damage.

When I first walked into Erickson, I got my HD pictures taken to show me all the imperfections I had in my skin and what I needed to work on. This was probably the coolest thing I have ever done! It's not an extra cost and is included with the hydrafacial! It showed me things like UV damage, pores, wrinkles, bacteria, etc! It was honestly amazing. (more to see in the video)

Then I met with Dr Erickson for a bit and we chatted about my skin- after that I was taken to the room I'd be having the procedure done in.

Firstly, my makeup was removed (other than my eye makeup) and she cleansed my face with some of their products and put a toner on. Then I was given a peel and then started the funnest part!! The suction vortex deposited the peel to my skin and after that was the extraction part. This vortex literally just sucked out all my whiteheads, blackheads, and any dirt! It was such a satisfying feeling!!! She showed me all the dirt that was sucked out in this jar and it was crazy to see! Scroll down....

(the screen grab I got from the video I filmed of it hahah looking so wide eyed)

While it sucks out the dirt, it drops serum back into those pores hence why your skin looks so hydrated afterwards!

And that makes me sooo happy to think something good is going back into my skin. That day my skin was as glowy as it has ever been. And even the next day when I put makeup on I was even so impressed with how soft my skin was- it was like a babys butt, still! My complexion looked more flawless, smooth, and poreless- it was an obvious difference to me!

I'd recommend it 100 times.

Thanks for Erickson Derm for collaborating with me for this post!
