I don't remember the last time I went away for my birthday so this year I wanted just that. We flew first to NYC to see Colin's family and then from there we went to Punta Cana. We stayed at Grand Palladium since it was a good price and it was a great hotel, only it was HUGE. We had to take golf carts around the entire hotel to the restaurants and shops, so FYI. The hibachi restaurant and the Asian restaurant were my favorite, it could be that I just like sushi and fried rice though. :) We didn't do any excursions but we had the best relaxing time soaking in the all inclusive food and drinks.
